Skipton chief appointed UK Finance chair

Skipton Business Finance chief executive Greg Bell has been appointed chair of UK Finance’s product and service board for invoice finance and asset-based lending.

Greg succeeds HSBC’s Laura Murray and will serve a two-year term representing the wider invoice finance and asset-based lending sector.

He brings almost three decades of experience across invoice finance, asset-based lending and commercial finance and has served on the UK Finance board for a number of years.

Greg was also one of the founding directors of Skipton Business Finance, which is marking its 25th year in business.

Greg said: “It’s a real honour to take on the role of chair at such an important time for the sector.

“Invoice finance and asset-based lending have a vital role to play in supporting ambitious UK businesses, and I want to make sure our industry continues to have a strong, credible voice in the conversations shaping access to finance, SME growth and the wider economy.

“Over the next two years, my focus will be on bringing the industry together around the issues that matter most, strengthening understanding of the value our sector provides and helping shape the next chapter for invoice finance and asset-based lending.”

Greg’s appointment was announced at the UK Finance Invoice Finance & ABL Annual Dinner & Awards in London.

In his new role, Greg will represent the sector at a time of continued focus on SME growth and access to finance, as well as the role specialist funding can play in supporting businesses across the UK.

Matthew Davies, director of commercial finance at UK Finance, added: “We are delighted to welcome Greg Bell as the new chair of our product and service board for invoice finance and asset-based lending.

“Having worked closely with Greg for many years on the board, we know he will bring valuable insight, experience, and leadership to the role of chair, and will be a strong advocate for the sector and the businesses it supports.

“We look forward to working with him more closely as chair to help drive the board’s agenda and support the continued growth, development and innovation of the sector.”
