The apprentices at Garendon Park, a flagship scheme built by William Davis

William Davis invests in future talent

Loughborough-based housebuilder William Davis Homes has welcomed nine apprentices to its long-running training programme.

The latest cohort includes apprentice plumbers, bricklayers, scaffolders, electricians and joiners, who will combine practical experience with college-based learning as they work towards professional qualifications.

William Davis first established its apprenticeship programme in the 1970s, providing routes into construction careers across both site-based trades and in-house roles.

The housebuilder currently employs more than 30 apprentices, with recruits given the opportunity to earn while they learn and develop the skills needed to progress into permanent roles.

Around 90 per cent of apprentices who begin their careers with William Davis go on to take up full-time employment with the company, with a number progressing into senior positions.

The developer recruits a new cohort each year and also recognises emerging talent through its annual apprentice awards, including naming an Apprentice of the Year.

Melissa Cook, HR manager at William Davis, said: “It has been a pleasure to welcome our newest apprentice intake to William Davis this year and we’re really looking forward to working with all nine of this year's cohort as they begin their journeys with us.

“William Davis has proudly supported hundreds of construction careers in their formative years through our industry-leading apprenticeship programme, which has been running for more than half a century.

“We have a really good mix of trades and skills through the apprentices joining us this time around, and this will provide lots of opportunities for our on-site mentors and teams to provide their knowledge and experience as we help guide the new starters through their apprenticeship with us.”
