Funding clears the way for Busy Bins' growth
A Lancashire waste collection specialist is clearing the way for growth after securing a six-figure investment to expand its team and technology.
Busy Bins has received backing from NPIF II – FW Capital Debt Finance, managed by FW Capital as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II.
Founded by Josh Morris and his father Mike in 2015, the company provides commercial and residential waste collection alongside skip hire and junk removal.
It serves customers across Bury, Rochdale, Manchester, Oldham, Bolton and Salford.
Josh says the funding will support plans to grow Busy Bins’ 12-strong workforce to 20 employees as it scales its operations.
Investment will also be made in marketing and the introduction of more automated technology, aimed at improving customer experience and making its services more accessible and personalised.
Josh said: “Busy Bins was born when local councils reduced the number of residential waste collections on offer.
“Despite their best efforts to recycle, people were struggling with overflowing bins and they needed a solution.
“So, we stepped in with reliable refuse collections.
“Since then, the business has grown and we have a loyal customer base thanks to our dependable services.
“The funding from FW Capital is supporting our next phase of growth as we look to meet the increased demand for our services.
“The whole process was easy and everything was followed up at a good speed to ensure we received the right funding for our business needs.”
Barry Wilson, investment executive at FW Capital, added: “Josh and Mike spotted a gap in the market and since then have enjoyed fast growth.
“The NPIF II investment will make a big impact in supporting their growth ambitions further as they look to expand the team and invest in enhancing their services.”
The £660 million NPIF II fund, operated by British Business Bank, provides loans from £25,000 to £2 million and equity investment up to £5 million to help small and medium-sized businesses.
Sarah Newbould, senior investment manager at British Business Bank, added: “The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II is enabling Busy Bins to take the next step in its growth journey by creating new jobs and investing in technology and enhanced customer services.
“By supporting ambitious businesses across the North, we are helping them access the finance they need to innovate, scale and create opportunities within their local communities.”
