Intercity becomes Chamber tech partner

A Birmingham technology provider has strengthened its links with the Black Country through a new business partnership.

Intercity has become the official technology partner of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s Business Club, which helps regional business leaders connect and collaborate.

The managed service provider will share expertise with members on areas including cyber security, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and modernising operations.

Headquartered in Birmingham city centre, Intercity provides managed IT, communications and connectivity, cloud, cyber security and AI transformation services.

The company has created 50 jobs across the Midlands during the past 18 months.

Charlie Blakemore, chief executive of Intercity, said: “The Black Country is an incredibly important region for us.

“Not only is it geographically close to our headquarters, but it’s also home to many of the organisations and sectors we work closely with every day, including housing, construction, charities, education, manufacturing and professional services.

“For instance, we are already supporting household local names, such as housing association whg, YMCA Black Country Group and EH Smith.”

Charlie added: “This partnership with the Chamber is a natural next step in deepening our commitment to the Black Country and ensuring local organisations have access to the expertise and support they need to thrive.

“Managing and understanding technology is a critical enabler for organisations of every size.

“That’s why we've chosen to become the technology partner for the Chamber’s Business Club, giving members access to trusted expertise to help them tackle both today’s technology challenges and tomorrow's opportunities.”

Its relationship with the Chamber has also supported its appointment as official technology partner of Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, where it is working on initiatives designed to improve resilience, operational efficiency and visitor experience.

The Chamber’s Business Club provides networking and collaboration opportunities for companies across the Black Country.

Sean Jackson, head of membership at Black Country Chamber of Commerce, added: “Intercity believes that relationships, not just contracts, are what make partnerships and business networks really work, and this is reflected in its increased involvement with the Chamber.

“Since becoming a Gold Member in August 2024, it has embraced being an active part of our community, so extending this partnership to become the official technology partner for our Business Club made perfect sense.

“It gives the company the perfect opportunity to help shape conversations, bring people together and contribute its outstanding technology expertise on topics that really matter to local organisations.

“We both want the partnership to be built on genuine value.”

Charlie added: “Both Intercity and the Chamber are committed to working together to help drive economic growth and ensuring we continue to invest in the communities that make the Black Country such a great place to live and work.”
