Lookers revamps Newcastle car dealership

An automotive retail group has reopened a Newcastle dealership following a major investment aimed at creating a more modern and digitally-focused customer experience.

Lookers has completed the transformation of its Nissan site on Portland Road, bringing the dealership in line with the manufacturer’s latest retail standards.

The revamped showroom includes greater digital integration and additional space for customers to explore Nissan’s vehicle range, including its electric models.

Around 50 people are employed at the dealership, with Lookers’ wider Nissan operation supporting more than 300 jobs across the North East.

“Alongside our investment in Sunderland and Gateshead, it forms part of a significant long-term commitment to providing customers across the region with outstanding, next-generation facilities and service.

The group has represented Nissan in the region for more than three decades and operates sites in Newcastle and Sunderland.

Its latest investment follows a £1.8 million transformation of a former Ford dealership on Newcastle Road in Sunderland in 2023 and the opening of a £1 million Gateshead site a year earlier.

The work forms part of Lookers’ wider multi-million-pound investment in its Nissan retail operations in the region.

The refurbished Portland Road showroom is now open to customers.
