Saffery welcomes 16 Scottish trainees

Accountancy and business advisory firm Saffery has welcomed 16 new trainees across its Edinburgh and Inverness offices as it continues to invest in developing young talent.

The recruits include graduates, school leavers and apprentices who will work across audit and assurance, tax, accounts and client payroll.

Each will follow a structured qualification pathway combining professional study with practical experience.

The Scottish recruits form part of a wider cohort of 144 trainees set to join Saffery across its UK and Dublin offices during the 2026/27 financial year.

Sean McGinness, partner and head of Saffery’s Edinburgh office, said: “Welcoming new trainees is one of the most rewarding parts of the year. 

“They bring fresh thinking, enthusiasm and different perspectives that strengthen our teams and help shape the future of the firm. 

“We’re committed to giving them every opportunity to succeed as they begin their professional journey.”

The firm currently supports 347 trainees working towards accountancy, audit and tax qualifications.

Saffery has also welcomed five interns across Edinburgh and Inverness this summer through its Kickstart Programme, which provides training in technical knowledge, emerging areas including AI and wider professional skills.

The firm has operated in Scotland for more than 40 years and provides services from its Edinburgh and Inverness offices to clients including owner-managed businesses, private clients, landed estates, agricultural and rural enterprises and not-for-profit organisations.
