Plans approved for 230-home Darlington scheme

A North East housebuilder has secured planning approval for 230 new homes as part of an emerging 2000-home garden village in Darlington.

Bowburn-headquartered Homes by Esh will deliver a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties at Burtree Garden Village in the Faverdale area.

The approval follows the housebuilder securing consent from Darlington Borough Council for a further 130 homes at the development in May.

Burtree Garden Village is expected to provide around 2000 homes alongside community facilities including a community centre, pub and health provision.

Homes by Esh says its latest scheme has been designed in line with the garden village design code and will include electric vehicle charging points at every property.

Plans will also exceed the ten per cent biodiversity net gain requirement, with additional woodland planting, species-rich grasslands, wildlife corridors and other ecological measures incorporated across the development.

Dale Morris, technical director at Homes by Esh, said: “We have been working closely with Darlington Borough Council to answer an important housing need across the borough.

“Following on from the planning approval for 130 new homes at Burtree last month, our focus remains on bringing forward high-quality, design-led homes in Darlington, and contributing positively to the long-term vision for the garden village.”

The approval adds to Homes by Esh’s existing activity in Darlington.

The housebuilder is constructing 144 energy-efficient homes at Hurworth Meadows and delivering a further 155 properties at Elder Brook Park on Neasham Road.

It has also completed a 225-home development at West Park Garden Village, which includes new green spaces.
