Plans submitted for 65-home Wood End scheme

Plans have been unveiled for a £22 million development that would bring 65 new homes to a North Warwickshire village.

Staffordshire-headquartered Cameron Homes is seeking approval from North Warwickshire Borough Council for the nine-acre scheme off Boulters Lane in Wood End, near Atherstone.

The proposals represent the second phase of the housebuilder’s neighbouring Lewis Avenue development, where 26 homes have recently been completed.

Plans include a mix of one to four-bedroom detached and semi-detached properties, including bungalows, with 40 per cent of the homes allocated as affordable housing.

The development would also provide public open space, alongside new trees, hedgerows, shrubs and wildflowers.

Existing trees and hedgerows around much of the site boundary would be retained, while attenuation ponds would be created to provide new habitats and increase biodiversity.

The homes would also incorporate energy efficiency measures including air source heat pumps, solar panels, smart thermostats and electric vehicle charging points.

White Ridge Architecture designed the scheme, with Evolve acting as planning consultant, following a public consultation in February.

“With our Oak View scheme completing two years ago, our brand is already well established here. 

“But, with only 26 houses in that first phase, we have a growing waiting list of families who missed out.

“These plans for a quintessential £22 million Cameron development of beautifully designed and detailed, energy efficient houses will cater for first time buyers to growing families and downsizers. 

“We will continue to work with Council officers, councillors and stakeholders as this planning application is considered.”
