Chatha Capital submits 592-home city blueprint

A real estate investor has submitted plans for a 592-home city scheme.

Chatha Capital hopes to create a Manchester venture.

The development – known as One Castlefield – includes a 46-storey tower and nine-storey building featuring one to four-bed homes.

Bosses say the scheme – earmarked for a parcel of land between Trentham Street, Ellesmere Street and the Cornbrook Metrolink and rail line – would “deliver much-needed new homes in one of Manchester’s most dynamic neighbourhoods”.

The planning application follows a public consultation in the summer, which has seen Chatha Capital update its blueprint to include a ground-floor café and “enhanced” tree planting, sustainable drainage features and biodiversity.

Manchester City Council is set to rule on the plans in the coming months. 

Raj Chatha, of Chatha Capital, said: “The development will complete the final undeveloped parcel within the wider St George's regeneration masterplan, creating a high-quality place to live while making a positive contribution to the continued regeneration of the area.”

The scheme has been designed by Manchester and London-based international architect Denton Corker Marshall.
