Broadacres appoints new group chair

North Yorkshire housing association Broadacres has appointed Tim Payne as group chair, succeeding Helen Simpson OBE following the completion of her six-year term.

Tim brings commercial and social housing experience to the role and has most recently served as senior independent director at Broadacres.

His wider experience includes working as group managing director at footwear retailer Clinkard Shoes and serving as a trustee of Teesside Hospice.

He takes the helm as Broadacres continues to invest in its existing homes and develop its contribution to communities across North Yorkshire and surrounding areas.

Tim said: “I’m honoured to have been appointed as chair of Broadacres and looking forward to building on the legacy that Helen leaves behind.

“I’m delighted to continue working with the board, executive team and colleagues as we face the opportunities and challenges of providing much needed affordable homes across our market towns, and rural and coastal communities.”

Helen has chaired the organisation for six years, during which Broadacres has invested in improving the energy efficiency of new and existing homes.

She added: “It has been an honour to lead Broadacres and I will be cheering the team on from a distance as they continue to play an important role in in the region.

“My thanks go to all the board members and colleagues and partners who have contributed so much to Broadacres in the last six years.”

Headquartered in Northallerton, Broadacres owns and manages around 7000 homes across rural communities and market towns in North Yorkshire and neighbouring areas.
