Currenxie appoints European compliance head
Global financial platform Currenxie has appointed Eoin Weigel as head of compliance and money laundering reporting officer for Europe as it continues its expansion across the UK and European Economic Area.
Dublin-based Eoin brings extensive fintech and payments experience, having previously held senior compliance and risk roles at PayPal and BlueSnap, including serving on the board of BlueSnap EU, now Payroc.
In his new role, he will oversee Currenxie’s European regulatory compliance, licensing frameworks, transaction monitoring and fraud and anti-money laundering operations.
Eoin said: “I’m delighted to join Currenxie at an important stage in its development.
“My mandate is to maintain and enhance compliance and financial crime frameworks, and control environments as the business continues to grow its presence in Europe.
“It’s critically important that firms maintain regulatory discipline while scaling in new markets.”
Eoin’s appointment follows the launch of Currenxie’s multi-currency business account across the UK and EEA, alongside the company securing direct SEPA Participant status from the European Payments Council.
Currenxie provides multi-currency payment services for businesses, including bank and wallet payments, foreign exchange and Visa Business cards.
Sam Coyne, chief executive – Europe at Currenxie, added: “Eoin’s addition to our leadership team is vital as we scale our presence across the UK and Europe.
“His extensive background in financial regulation and AML ensures our rapid regional growth meets the highest standards of regulatory compliance.”
