G4C Tees Valley appoints co-chair

Construction industry network G4C Tees Valley has appointed Joe Montey as co-chair as it looks to strengthen support for emerging talent across the region’s built environment sector.

Joe, senior project manager at K2 Construction Management, succeeds Ellie Fraser-Mitchell of MGL Group and will serve alongside fellow co-chair Alex Philpott of AtkinsRéalis.

He began his career as a submariner in the Royal Navy before moving into private-sector project management, working on construction and development projects across the North East and Yorkshire.

In his new role, Joe will help develop a programme of networking, skills development and continuing professional development while supporting efforts to make Teesside an attractive place to build a career in the sector.

He has previously mentored students and young professionals and supported engagement with schools and colleges to improve access to construction careers.

Joe said: “Taking on the role of co-chair of G4C Tees Valley is a great opportunity to build on the work already being done across the region, including the contribution Ellie has made during her time as co-chair.

“I’ve always believed that our industry is at its best when people are willing to share their knowledge, open doors for others and create opportunities for the next generation.

“Having been involved with G4C for a number of years, I’ve seen at first-hand the difference it can make to people at an early stage in their careers.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my own experience to the role, working alongside Alex and the wider G4C team and helping to make sure the organisation continues to reflect what young professionals across Tees Valley want and need from it.”

G4C, or Generation for Change, provides a platform for young professionals across construction and the wider built environment, helping them develop their careers and gain a stronger voice within the industry.
