Recycling firm plans new jobs in factory expansion

An electronic waste disposal and recycling firm has unveiled job plans after officially opening a £100,000-plus plant expansion.

EGO Technology has extended its Bradford base.

Bosses say the move will fuel plans to create 36 posts over the next two years across roles including processing technicians and repair and refurbishment engineers.

They add the expanded 36,000sq ft hub will “significantly increase” redundant electrical and electronic equipment recycling at the business, whose services cover areas including IT asset disposal and data management and waste electrical and electronic equipment processing.

Its factory investment was officially opened by Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Sir Chris Herd.

Ian Austin, group chief executive of EGO Technology, whose 24-staff Bradford base complements a Burton-upon-Trent technology recovery centre, said: “Bradford was built by pioneers, industrialists, innovators and philanthropists who created opportunity and lasting change.

“We’re proud to carry that spirit forward.

“We want to build an operation that creates a lasting legacy for Bradford and for generations to come.”

Sir Chris added: “It was a pleasure to officially open EGO Technology’s new facility.

“It’s particularly encouraging to see a business investing in new technology and sustainable practices, but in local jobs, skills and opportunities for people in our district too.”
