Work starts on ‘landmark’ 222-home scheme

A national housebuilder has started work on a 222-home development as it expands into South Wales for the first time.

Miller Homes has begun construction at Caerleon Grange, part of the wider Glan Llyn development on the former Llanwern Steelworks site near Newport.

The scheme, located off Queen’s Way, will feature a mix of two to five-bedroom properties, including homes overlooking a lakeside setting.

A sales office has opened at the development, with Miller Homes planning to unveil a showhome this winter, which will become its first completed property in South Wales.

Hayley Ody, sales director of Miller Homes South West, said: “After months of hard work to secure the land and latterly planning consent on the site, Miller Homes is very proud to have now started work on our very first development as a business in South Wales.

“Caerleon Grange will provide greater choice in the new homes market for potential homeowners looking to move to Glan Llyn, and the opportunity to buy from an established developer who, while breaking new ground in this area of the country, have been building new homes for more than 90 years.

“We’re all focused towards building our first homes at Caerleon Grange and looking forward to opening our showhome at the development in the coming months. 

“It will represent a landmark moment for us to have our first completed Miller Homes showhome in South Wales and we hope to mark that in style at our launch.”

Caerleon Grange forms part of the housebuilder’s newly established South West region, which is based in Bristol and was created to support expansion across Wales and the south west of England.

Following its move into Glan Llyn, Miller Homes is planning further developments in Yeovil and Bridgwater while continuing to explore opportunities for additional growth across Wales.
