UnlikelyAI appoints principal product manager

London-based AI technology company UnlikelyAI has appointed Vidya Sarma as principal product manager as it prepares for its next phase of commercial growth.

Vidya joins after nine years at Amazon, most recently working within its AGI organisation, where she led product strategy for AI-powered information experiences across Alexa+.

Her work included the launch of Alexa.com, bringing Alexa+ to the web, and developing how the service grounds its answers in trusted news sources.

Earlier in her Amazon career, Vidya worked on products spanning consumer, enterprise and regulated environments, including Amazon Fresh, supply chain systems and COVID-19 diagnostics.

Working alongside UnlikelyAI founder and chief executive William Tunstall-Pedoe, Vidya will lead development of the company’s product platform and help shape how its technology is delivered to enterprise customers.

She said: “Every product I've built has come down to the same question: can people actually trust what the system tells them? 

“Even the best grounding techniques on top of a traditional LLM can only get you so far. 

“When the stakes are high, ‘probably right’ isn’t good enough. 

“UnlikelyAI’s neurosymbolic approach is the first I've seen that designs explainability and safety from the start. 

“That’s the platform that I want to build.”

UnlikelyAI is developing neurosymbolic AI technology that combines deep learning with symbolic reasoning, with a focus on providing accurate, explainable and auditable outputs for businesses operating in high-stakes environments.
