The EC Group expands leadership team

Creative and brand experience business The EC Group, headquartered in London, has strengthened its leadership team with three senior appointments following a period of growth and acquisition activity.

Chris Macdonald has joined in the newly created role of group chief executive, bringing more than 30 years’ experience across the creative industries in the UK and US.

He was most recently global chief executive of advertising network McCann in New York, before returning to the UK to work as an investor, board adviser and non-executive director.

Chris said: “It was going to take something really special for me to take on another chief executive role and The EC Group is just that.

“It’s a group of companies dedicated to their clients, creatively driven and in the fastest growing sector of the marketing ecosystem.

“It’s an exciting time for brands and businesses to invest more in experiences and events which are easily measurable, uniquely ownable and create lasting impact.

“I believe The EC Group can be at the forefront of this movement.”

Mark Beaver, founder of The EC Group, added: “Chris has been a board advisor for the past 18 months and has made a really positive impact on the business, our strategy and leaders during a period of substantial growth.

“It became clear that Chris could play a more significant role inside the company and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us as our group chief executive.”

Meanwhile, Event Concept managing director Adam Stanley has also been promoted to group managing director in recognition of his leadership during the company’s recent growth.

Mark added: “I am delighted to announce Adam’s promotion as he has achieved so much for the company, is hugely respected by our clients and internally by all our teams.

“This recognition is so well deserved.”

And Nick Charlton has joined as group chief financial officer, bringing more than 20 years’ experience across media, broadcasting, advertising and technology.

He was most recently global senior vice president of commercial operations at BBC Studios.

The appointments follow The EC Group’s recent acquisition of global brand experience agency Ivory Worldwide as it continues to expand its operations.

Mark added: “It is a testament to the momentum of the group that someone with Nick’s experience has joined us and I am excited to see him positively impacting the business and supporting our clients and our teams.

“With Chris and Nick joining and Adam’s promotion I am really excited for the future of the group.”
