Engineering founder gets ‘wonderful’ recognition

An engineering entrepreneur from Northumberland has been recognised among the UK’s most ambitious business leaders as his company approaches its 30th anniversary.

Professor Jarek Rosinski, founder and executive chairman of Cramlington-based Transmission Dynamics, has been named a One to Watch in the 2026 LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders programme, run in partnership with The Times.

The recognition follows a successful period for the company, which received a King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation in 2025, was shortlisted for the MacRobert Award and was named North East Business of the Year 2026.

Founded in 1996, Transmission Dynamics has evolved from a specialist engineering consultancy into an international technology business.

Operating from its Cramlington headquarters, the company develops sensors, electronics, software and artificial intelligence technologies for customers across rail, mining, wind energy and other industrial sectors.

Its innovations help businesses monitor machinery, identify developing faults and prevent equipment failures.

Professor Rosinski said: “For me personally, this is a wonderful recognition as Transmission Dynamics approaches its thirtieth anniversary.

“The company has grown into an international engineering operation with a breadth of expertise I could scarcely have imagined at the beginning.

“The North East has been an important part of that development, from my time at Newcastle University to the people, partnerships and support that have helped the business grow.

“In Cramlington, we have brought together an extraordinarily talented team and the facilities to turn ideas into technologies deployed globally.

“I am enormously proud of this team.

“Their knowledge, imagination and determination have made the company what it is today.

“There is tremendous ambition among them, and a great deal more we want to achieve.”

Professor Rosinski’s recognition follows that of fellow North East entrepreneur Jonny Catto, managing director of Gateshead-based iPac Packaging Innovations, who was named among the programme’s Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders for 2026.

The LDC programme attracted more than 620 nominations nationwide this year.

John Garner, managing partner at LDC, added: “This year’s Ones to Watch have already achieved a great deal, but it is their ambition for what comes next that sets them apart.

“They are building exciting businesses and have demonstrated the ambition needed to thrive. I would like to congratulate them all on their success so far.

“We look forward to following their progress and seeing where their ambition takes them next.”
