Contractor gets top marks for new school project
A building contractor is feeling top of the class after completing an education project.
Morgan Sindall Construction has built a new Kent primary school.
The firm demolished a 1970s building at Canterbury’s Pilgrims’ Way Primary School before creating a 420-pupil-capacity site on its footprint, which includes a new hall and classrooms, a kitchen and a multi-use games area.
An existing nursery has also been connected to the new building.
The structure has been handed over to Veritas Multi Academy Trust.
Guy Hannell, area director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the Southern Home Counties, said: “The whole team is really proud of this project, especially as our Canterbury office is just down the road from Pilgrims’ Way Primary School.
“Combining our understanding of Canterbury alongside collaboration with the Department for Education and Veritas Multi Academy Trust enabled us to factor the needs of the school’s teachers, young pupils and their parents into the design of the site.”
Dr Kerry Jordan-Daus, Veritas Multi Academy Trust chief executive, added: “We are delighted with our new school and all the potential it offers for our children, our families and our community.”
