Shredding firm cuts path to growth with new line

A shredding company is piecing together growth plans after rolling out a service shift.

Shred Direct says it is set to notch a 20 per cent turnover rise following an operations expansion.

Known for document and data destruction, the business has added disposal of electronic equipment including laptops, PCs, mobile phones and monitors to its portfolio.

And Graeme Carter, who founded the business – based in Wheatley Hill, near Peterlee, East Durham – 13 years ago, said the service expansion has helped secure new clients beyond its North East heartland in Leeds and Manchester.

He said: “Adding to our services is certainly helping grow our client portfolio.

“Although the COVID-19 pandemic seems a distant memory now, it did impact my business, so it’s good to feel like things are back on track.”

And Graeme – who briefly played for Newcastle United before injury curtailed his footballing career – says the firm’s progress will be supported by some familiar faces, with daughter Eleanor, who manages office and administration duties, joining wife and company director Kay and driver and brother-in-law Michael.

He added: “Eleanor has been a great addition to the team.

“It means I can focus on being on the roads with the peace of mind that the office and administration side of things are being properly managed.”
