Sharp new look for tech giant in Leeds
A global technology giant has sharpened its approach to modern working with the completion of a new UK headquarters in Leeds.
Created by Yorkshire commercial interior design specialist Design Tonic, Sharp’s new headquarters occupies 10,200sq ft of refurbished office space at South Central, accommodating around 100 employees following the company’s relocation from East Ardsley, near Wakefield.
The new workplace combines office accommodation with an integrated technology showroom, bringing together employees, products and expertise in a setting designed to encourage collaboration and innovation.
Facilities include dedicated meeting rooms, informal collaboration spaces, booths, pods, breakout areas and a kitchen.
Employee wellbeing and inclusivity have also shaped the refurbishment, with quieter areas for focused work alongside more vibrant spaces for meetings and teamwork.
Bosses say the development reflects changing workplace expectations, creating an “adaptable and inspiring workplace” where employees can collaborate and clients and partners can experience Sharp’s technology firsthand.
Donna Carrick, Sharp UK’s chief people and transformation officer, said: “Our new headquarters represents an important investment in our people and the way we want to work as a business.
“Together, Design Tonic and our internal teams have created an environment that brings team members together, supports collaboration and gives people choice and flexibility in how and where they work.
“Design Tonic understood our ambitions from the start and helped us transform the space into a workplace that is both true to our brand and uniquely Sharp.
“The combination of collaborative spaces, quieter areas and informal settings means our teams can choose the environment that works best for them throughout the day.
“We’re delighted with the finished space.
“It gives us a headquarters that not only meets our needs now but provides an adaptable and inspiring workplace for the future.”
Founded in 2019, Design Tonic specialises in commercial interior design, fit-out and project management across the office, hospitality, retail and leisure sectors.
The project adds to its portfolio of workplace transformations across Yorkshire and beyond.
Amanda Cook, co-founder of Design Tonic, added: “The way people use offices has evolved significantly, so our aim was to create a workplace that gives people genuine choice.
“It needed to provide great spaces for collaboration and connection while remaining highly practical.
“The finished space brings those elements together and provides a workplace that can support the needs of Sharp’s people while providing plenty of flexibility for years to come.”
