Berlin flights return to Newcastle Airport

Holidaymakers and business travellers in the North East will have more opportunities to explore the German capital next year, with the return of a popular direct flight route.

Eurowings has confirmed it will operate flights between Newcastle International Airport and Berlin for a third consecutive year, with tickets now on sale for 2027.

The airline will run twice-weekly services every Monday and Friday from April to October, with one-way fares starting at £79.99.

An enhanced schedule will introduce more convenient afternoon departures, offering greater flexibility for passengers planning city breaks, business trips and longer stays.

The seasonal service complements Eurowings’ year-round direct flights to Düsseldorf, further strengthening connections between the North East and Germany.

Berlin remains a popular destination for international visitors, combining historic landmarks with a thriving cultural, food and nightlife scene.

Attractions include the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building and remnants of the Berlin Wall, alongside sightseeing cruises on the River Spree and the city's extensive parks and gardens.

Visitors can also enjoy a packed programme of annual events, including the Carnival of Cultures in May, which attracts hundreds of thousands of people with parades, live performances and international cuisine.

Chris Ion, head of aviation development at Newcastle Airport, said: “Berlin continues to be one of our most popular city-break destinations, so we are delighted that Eurowings has put flights from Newcastle Airport on sale for 2027.

“The enhanced Monday and Friday schedule, with more convenient flight times, makes it easier for passengers to experience everything Berlin has to offer, from its iconic landmarks and rich history to its vibrant culture, nightlife and events.

“As well as providing direct access to one of Europe’s most exciting cities, the route also creates more opportunities for visitors from Germany to discover North East England and everything that makes our region such a great place to visit.”
