Partou appoints inclusion lead
Day nursery provider Partou, headquartered in Manchester, has strengthened its early years leadership team with the appointment of Dr Karen Boardman as group SEND and inclusion lead.
Karen brings more than 35 years’ experience across early years education, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), quality assurance and leadership development.
She holds a doctorate in early childhood education from the University of Sheffield and previously served as head of department for early years education at Edge Hill University.
In her new role, Karen will lead Partou’s SEND and inclusion strategy, supporting more than 100 nursery settings across the UK.
She will work to strengthen inclusive practice throughout the organisation, helping staff provide appropriate support for children with additional needs and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Karen said: “I am delighted to be taking on this role at such a pivotal time for the early years sector.
“The expansion of places coupled with the way settings are graded by Ofsted has created challenges as well as opportunities for providers, particularly in relation to SEND and inclusion.
“I have been impressed by the way in which Partou has approached these issues and look forward to playing a key part in delivering the highest standards of inclusive early education across our settings.”
Karen will report to Sam Sleeman-Boss, Partou’s head of early years, as the nursery group continues to develop its approach to inclusive education and childcare.
Sam added: “Karen brings exceptional expertise in early childhood education and inclusion, alongside a genuine passion for improving outcomes for children.
“She understands that every child is unique and deserves to be seen, heard and supported in ways that respect their individual needs and dignity as little people.
“Her values align strongly with ours, and I know she will play an important role in helping us create environments where every child feels they belong and has the opportunity to flourish.
“We’re delighted to have her join Partou.”
