Potter Space manager takes RICS role
A Leeds-based property company’s asset manager has been appointed chair of a regional professional network supporting the next generation of surveyors and built environment specialists.
Potter Space’s Esme Briggs has taken the helm at RICS Matrics Leeds, which provides networking, training and career development opportunities for students, trainees and newly qualified professionals.
In her new role, Esme will lead the committee’s activities, overseeing networking events, professional development initiatives and engagement with Yorkshire’s property and construction community.
A key priority will be introducing a school outreach programme, with members visiting schools across Yorkshire to raise awareness of careers in surveying, construction and property among year 9 pupils.
Esme said: “It is an honour to be appointed chair of RICS Matrics Leeds.
“Throughout my career, I have benefitted greatly from the guidance, support and opportunities the network provides, and I have always hoped to give something back.
“I’m passionate about helping others build connections and develop their careers through a strong professional network, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.
“I recognise the importance of continuing and expanding on the delivery of a diverse programme of events, which RICS Matrics Leeds have done over the past few years, to support networking, wellbeing, career development and outreach to those starting their career journeys and beyond.”
Esme’s appointment reflects Potter Space’s commitment to supporting professional development and encouraging new talent into the sector.
RICS Matrics Leeds is also preparing to recruit new committee members from October 2026, offering students and early-career professionals opportunities to build industry connections, develop leadership skills and contribute to the organisation's activities.
The network aims to strengthen the region’s future talent pipeline by helping aspiring property professionals establish careers across the built environment.
Jason Rockett, managing director of Potter Space, added: “We are incredibly proud of Esme in her appointment as RICS Matrics Leeds chair it is a testament to her dedication, professionalism and commitment to her peers and work.
“Since Esme joined the committee in May this year, we have seen her development personally and professionally.
“We know she will excel in her role as chair, and we are excited to support her throughout her tenure.”
