Pythia Sports appoints trading chief
Sports betting technology and trading specialist Pythia Sports has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of Ben Hutton as head of trading.
Ben joins from Entain, bringing more than 20 years’ experience in the betting industry, including responsibility for the group's UK-facing international racing product.
He began his career with Gala Coral Group in August 2005, remaining with the business through its evolution into Ladbrokes Coral, GVC and Entain.
During his tenure, he worked closely with racing suppliers and rights holders, including Pythia Sports, ARC, RMG, SIS, PMU and 1/ST CONTENT.
His experience includes managing supplier relationships, developing racing products and overseeing international racing operations from a bookmaker’s perspective.
In his new role, Ben will lead Pythia’s trading operation, with responsibility for trading margins, racing product presentation and the tools used by its trading team.
He will also bring experience in developing artificial intelligence-based trading tools and models.
Ben said: “I’m very excited to be joining Pythia Sports as head of trading, merging my bookmaker experience with the supplier side of the industry.
“A very different challenge after 20 years on one side of the fence, and one I’m really looking forward to.
“Pythia’s work in AI and racing appealed to me because it brings together my experience on the bookmaker side and my interest in developing trading tools.”
Ben’s appointment strengthens Pythia’s expertise in horse and greyhound racing pricing, trading and risk management as it continues to develop its services for betting operators.
Adrien Tillier, managing director and chief technology officer at Pythia Sports, added: “We are delighted to welcome Ben to Pythia as our new head of trading.
“Ben has spent two decades on the bookmaker side of racing.
“He understands the day-to-day demands of running a racing product and what operators need from the suppliers they work with.
“We’re bringing that experience into Pythia to help us develop our services around those needs.
“Whether it’s pricing, managing risk or improving the product, we want our customers to have a racing product that works for their business and their players.
“Our aim is excellence, nothing less, and Ben's experience will help us make those decisions with the bookmaker in mind.
“His experience of running a racing product at Entain will be particularly valuable as we work to bring Pythia’s services to leading operators.”
