Conifer cultivates new business connections
A London-based professional referral platform has brought together advisers from across the financial and legal sectors to strengthen relationships and encourage new business opportunities.
Conifer hosted its Conifer Connect networking event at Rhodes Contemporary Art Gallery on Great Portland Street, bringing members of its growing network together to develop existing partnerships and establish new connections.
The event, held last Tuesday (October 13), marked another milestone for the company, which launched in February with the aim of simplifying how professional advisers connect clients with trusted specialists.
Conifer’s platform brings together professionals working in investment management, financial planning, law, accountancy and foreign exchange, with plans to expand into property, insurance and corporate finance.
It enables advisers to identify specialists suited to their clients' needs, manage introductions and track referrals through to their outcomes.
The technology also allows firms to manage existing referral relationships through a central platform while connecting with professionals beyond their established networks, creating opportunities for new business.
Sam Buchanan, co-founder and chief executive at Conifer, said: “Conifer was founded with an understanding that relationships between professional intermediaries, and the client referrals that flow between them, are essential to a vibrant and functioning professional services ecosystem.
“We also recognise that a lack of infrastructure, visibility, governance, and technology-driven due diligence tools underserve the professionals partaking in these actives, and significantly underserve clients being referred.
“Conifer is here to help professionals refer with greater confidence to provide more well-rounded advice to clients, and to receive business in a more efficient and effective manner.”
The networking event highlighted Conifer’s emphasis on combining digital technology with personal relationships, recognising that trust remains central to successful client referrals.
By bringing advisers together face to face, the company aims to strengthen collaboration between professional services firms and help them provide clients with access to expertise beyond their own specialisms.
The event also reflected Conifer’s ambitions to expand its network as it builds on its first eight months of operation.
Sam added: “While Conifer is designed to professionalise and progress the referral process, we have been mindful at all stages to build technology that enhances relationships between participants, not decentralise or deconstruct the trust that drives client referrals.”
