Legendary music producer returns home

A legendary music producer is set for a homecoming performance in County Durham, bringing stories from his decades-long career to the stage.

Trevor Horn, the County Durham-born producer behind hits for Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Seal and ABC, will bring his Adventures in Modern Recording spoken-word tour to Gala Durham on Saturday, October 31.

Born in Hetton-le-Hole and raised in Durham City, Trevor will share memories and behind-the-scenes stories from his career, following the publication of his bestselling memoir, Adventures in Modern Recording: From ABC to ZTT.

Often described as ‘the man who invented the 80s’, Trevor first found chart success with The Buggles and their number one hit Video Killed the Radio Star, before joining progressive rock band Yes.

He went on to produce music for artists including Malcolm McLaren, Marc Almond, Tori Amos and t.A.T.u., establishing himself as one of pop music’s most influential producers.

His accolades include four BRIT Awards and a Grammy for Seal’s Kiss from a Rose.

Trevor said: “I had a brilliant time on my recent tour and thoroughly enjoyed sharing the stories of my career.

“When I was asked if I’d return next year with more stories, I didn’t need to think twice.”

Lizzie Glazier, artistic director of Gala Durham, added: “We are so pleased to be welcoming the incredible Trevor Horn back to his home in the North East, and this production will be another must-see at Gala Durham.

“Listen along as Trevor takes audiences on a guided tour through his legendary career.

“From Robbie Williams to Pet Shop boys, you will hear a play-by-play of this incredible journey.”

Tickets for the Gala Durham show cost £30 and are available at www.galadurham.co.uk.
