Nuby says its new Birtley base “represents a significant vote of confidence” in the North East

Nuby aiming to grow with new Euro headquarters

A baby products firm is eyeing continental growth after completing a £5.7 million European headquarters move.

Nuby has switched to a 115,000sq ft North East base.

Bosses say the site in Birtley, near Gateshead, “represents a significant vote of confidence” in the area “as a place to invest, grow and do business.”

They add the near-60-staff site has helped create four new roles, with “further opportunities expected as the company continues to expand”.

Mark Dolan, Nuby managing director, said the move will boost work across the baby feeding, play and bathtime product firm’s finance, supply, product and marketing functions.

He added: “We chose Gateshead because it provides a great central location for our team across the North East, while offering excellent access to the A1 for our haulage and logistics requirements.

“The new site gives us the space and facilities we need to support our future ambitions and continued growth across Europe.”

The business was supported on its move by Gateshead Council.

Councillor Steve Campion, the local authority’s cabinet member for economic development, said: “This is fantastic news for the borough.

“The company's long-term commitment to Birtley will help create new opportunities for local people, support our economy and further strengthen Gateshead's reputation as one of the North East’s leading investment destinations.”

Nuby was advised by Newcastle, Cumbria and Teesside-based law firm Muckle LLP on its expansion.

Senior associate Beth Thompson added: “This purchase marks an exciting new chapter for the business, and such a sizeable investment in the North East demonstrates a genuine commitment to the region.”
