Farm shop raises nearly £12,000 for charity
A West Yorkshire farm shop has raised more than £11,000 for a lifesaving charity through a longstanding fundraising partnership.
Wakefield-based Blacker Hall Farm has raised £11,871.83 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance since 2011, including more than £1500 over the past 12 months.
The partnership began after a neighbouring farmer was seriously injured in an accident and received emergency assistance from the charity.
Fundraising has been supported by customers attending the farm’s annual Yorkshire Day Festival and Christmas markets, which attract thousands of visitors each year.
Blacker Hall Farm also donates £1 from every ticket sold for its Big Machines event and Tractor Run.
Edward Garthwaite, owner and managing director of Blacker Hall Farm, said: “Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a cause very close to our hearts.
“As a fifth-generation family business, our local community is the lifeblood of Blacker Hall Farm.
“We are grateful to our customers for their generosity and continuous support, the success of the fundraising would not have been possible without them.
“We hope that Yorkshire Air Ambulance can continue its incredible work supporting farmers, families and communities across Yorkshire for many years to come.
“It is such an important service that helps when people need it most, and we are proud to do our bit to support them.”
Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides emergency assistance to more than 1000 patients annually.
Donna Thomson, community fundraiser West at Yorkshire Air Ambulance, added: “The partnership with Blacker Hall Farm helps us reach more people across our community and continue to deliver the often life-saving support that they need.
“The funds raised will directly contribute to helping people in Yorkshire and saving lives.”
