Salko UK signs on as gold sponsor of rugby club
An East Yorkshire engineering firm is helping a local rugby club tackle the costs of maintaining and improving its facilities after signing a new sponsorship agreement.
Spaldington-based Salko UK has become a gold sponsor of Goole RUFC, providing funding towards upgraded training facilities, changing rooms, playing kit and equipment.
The mechanical and electrical engineering specialist joins a network of corporate supporters helping the club meet its running costs as it prepares to celebrate its centenary next year.
Founded 26 years ago, Salko UK has longstanding ties to the local community, while Goole RUFC fields two senior squads and youth teams from under-sevens to under-19s.
Dean Murphy, founder and chief executive of Salko UK, said: “We’re proud to sponsor a team on home turf, and we take immense pride in backing Goole RUFC.
“We’re looking forward to cheering them on this season, which has kicked off with great success so far!
“When launching Salko UK in Spaldington twenty-six years ago, establishing a strong tradition of community investment was paramount, making this sponsorship a natural fit.
“The club boasts a celebrated legacy throughout the area and as a long-standing resident, championing such a dedicated club and team is something I’m really excited for.”
James Hawksworth, honorary secretary at Goole RUFC, added: “Welcoming Salko as a new sponsor this season is fantastic news for our club.
“Sponsorship support from local businesses is essential, and Goole RUFC couldn’t run without it.
“As we draw closer to our centenary milestone, we are thrilled to celebrate this exciting moment with the dedicated sponsors who make our work possible.”
