So you want to be a social entrepreneur
This free workshop is aimed at those with an interest in setting up a social enterprise.
Presented by Kevin Marquis, Social Enterprise Manager at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC), this workshop will help you to explore whether social entrepreneurship is for you and provide you with information on what support is available.
Topics covered include:
- An introduction to social enterprises, co-operatives and community interest companies (CIC’s)
- How to successfully bid for funding
- How to register your co-operative or CIC
- Social enterprise Vs Charities: What’s the best model for you
- Good governance
If you’ve ever wanted to set up an organisation to tackle the difficult problems we face in the world or to make a positive social or environmental impact in the community, then this free workshop is for you.
Joining Kevin will be two entrepreneurs he has worked with in the past who will discuss their journey into starting and growing a social enterprise.
Local business owners Lynn Summerside of B Active B Fit and Nicola Pallas of North Star Counselling CIC will give an honest overview of the joys and challenges of becoming a social entrepreneur.
This session is sure to be lively, life enhancing and hopefully spark lots of new ideas for good!
