Punch Records was established in 1997 as a record store selling hard-to-find Black music, quickly becoming Birmingham’s leading independent vinyl supplier to local DJs. The shop closed in 2004 but demand for Punch’s artist-led DJ skills workshops increased. Nearly a decade later, Punch has grown into an authentic, music-driven arts organisation in the heart the Birmingham, working nationally and internationally. Punch exists to champion Black music and the arts, supporting cutting edge, experimental and credible work, which celebrates the wealth of talent found within young people. Punch now offers music workshops, bespoke educational packages, event promotion, large-scale concerts and club nights, training for artists and arts organisations, regional marketers and opportunities for people to develop music skills and enter the creative sector. We focus on providing a range of music events and touring productions including spoken word, theatre, dance, film and visual arts.
