Designing how we want to live

Design Event 07, the North East’s premier design festival, is appealing for innovative exhibitions and installations based around the theme ‘how do we want to live?’.

Submissions must raise new questions about sustainability, propose new uses for the emerging technologies and materials particularly strong in the North East of England, and draw attention to ignored but interesting spaces in the region. The call is open to designers, galleries, studios, curators, collectives and others interested in this field.

Design Event 07 is supported in by Dott 07, the first in a 10-year programme of design promotion and innovation being delivered through a partnership between the Design Council and One NorthEast. Dott 07 will provide the opportunity for designers, businesses and public service providers to engage with citizens in improving national life through design.

Karen Stone, director of Design Event, said: ‘It’s great to have been given this opportunity to work across the region and to continue the rapid growth that the festival has gone through since it’s conception in 2005. With Dott 07 and Culture10s’ support we can maximise the opportunities that Dott 07 is bringing to the region and continue to showcase the high quality of design talent in the North East.’

The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2006. Full details can be found at www.design-event.co.uk For more information please contact: info@design-event.co.uk
