Chips Away
A litterbug from Essex has been fined twice after throwing chips across two counties. BBC Online reports that Mathew Buer, 21, of Clacton, was driving on the A133 when he threw the chips out of his car window. However, since he was driving across the district line as it happened, the chips fell in both Colchester Borough and Tendring District. A council employee driving behind him took offence and reported him to both authorities, who each issued him with a £50 fine. Mike Page, spokesman for Tendring District Council, explained: “It wasn’t just a few chips - this was chip after chip and the wrapping as well.”
