Ugly mutton dressed as uglier lamb
Australian scientists are on the look-out for really ugly sheep. The ‘xtreme sheep’ campaign is urging farmers to keep hold of sheep who are particularly unattractive, as the random genetic mistakes in ugly lambs can speed up the search for the genes critical in good wool making. Sheep which feature clumps of wool, wrinkled skin, odd fibres or no wool at all are considered hot contenders for the anti-beauty competition.
