Website launched for 'olderpreneurs'
The Olderpreneur, a website aimed at people over 50 involved or interested in business issues and enterprise, has been launched by the charity PRIME. The website (olderpreneur.net) offers users case studies, news, practical advice, quizzes and research. Site visitors are also encouraged to contribute by submitting their own articles and links.
The charity hopes that the website will be used as an interactive source of information. Site users can help to decide the order in which articles appear by voting on them. The more votes an article receives, the higher it will appear in the website’s headlines.
“The word olderpreneur and the website are part of our campaign to raise awareness about older entrepreneurs,” explained PRIME marketing and research officer Ian Stobie.
“As a result of funding cutbacks, there are fewer organisations offering free business support. However, the website is a cost-effective way of creating an online business support club that provides older entrepreneurs with a place to network, and overcome the issues and isolation they face,” Stobie added.
The website also provides information intended to clear up confusion about the recently introduced Age Discrimination laws, which PRIME says are worrying for many employers. PRIME is a charity that helps people aged 50 and above to set up in business. They are planning to showcase some of the ‘olderpreneurs’ during Enterprise Week in November.
