Call for aspiring architects
Students with a desire to build a career in architecture are being given an opportunity to meet experts in the field at an open evening hosted by RyderHKS. Budding architects and technicians are invited to the company’s Generator Studios in Newcastle on Tuesday 30 January where they can find out about the funding opportunities and training schemes available.
RyderHKS run a variety of schemes from apprenticeships to post graduate scholarships through to the RyderHKS Academy. The Academy brings together all aspects of development and training to aid continuous professional development for all employees at their offices throughout the UK.
Mark Thompson, executive director at RyderHKS said: “Our commitment to training and development runs throughout the practice and we firmly believe in encouraging everyone to fulfill their potential, to have an entrepreneurial attitude and to bring something to the business. “The Academy is a way of encouraging and nurturing staff at all levels in a structured way. This open evening will give the students a chance to see what RyderHKS has to offer.”
This year 16 new recruits have joined the Newcastle office. Paul Senior, 16, joined the practice after completing his GCSEs at Greencroft Comprehensive School in Annfield Plain in Durham. He is working as a technical assistant and is currently undertaking a BTEC National Certificate in construction at Newcastle College.
Paul said: “I am really enjoying combining work with education. The Academy allowed me to begin my career straight from school whilst getting the qualifications I need. I undertook two weeks of work experience before I started at RyderHKS and I knew this was where I wanted to work.” For more information or to attend the event contact Susan Dawson on 0191 269 5454 or email SDawson@ryderhks.com.
