RNJ build business in education
Newcastle-based construction consultants RNJ are building links with the North East education sector following a new contract to renovate one of the region’s schools. St Matthew’s First School in Prudhoe, Northumberland, will undergo some demolition works to make way for a school hall extension and a new classroom, library, kitchen and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) facility.
Bernadette Pye, St Matthew’s head teacher, said: “We were very impressed with RNJ’s track record within the education sector and we look forward to seeing the project coming to fruition. The scheme will provide a major boost to the school’s facilities and to our pupils’ learning environment and education. “The school’s new look is due to be completed in August 2008 - just in time for the school children to return after their summer break.”
John Gibson, partner at RNJ, said: “There is a growing commitment across the North East to improve the quality of educational facilities and we’re pleased to be a part of this exciting new development which will provide first class facilities to help pupils learn, develop and achieve.”
Alongside RNJ, the North East-based project team includes architects Darbyshire Architects, mechanical and electrical engineers AE Robb & Associates and structural engineers Sir Frederick Snow and Partners.
