Firm at cutting edge of computer technology with StepChange

Land Based Training is now using the Internet to improve customer relations and business efficiency thanks to TyneWear Partnership funded project StepChange. It’s nothing new to rely on computers and the Internet in an office based business, but for forestry trainer, Robert Mordercai, the opportunities of the Internet are only now being realised.

Through StepChange and the changes made as a result, Robert believes his business is up to 80% more efficient. In addition, to the new equipment and training, a StepChange advisor also recommended that Land Based Training invested in a “Crash Box”, an offsite safe, containing backed up data, essential documentation, certificates, risk assessments and spare keys. This investment has already proved invaluable. Just weeks after getting the “Crash Box” Robert had need to use it when a neighbouring office caught fire and the whole area was cordoned off.

Robert said “I was told I couldn’t enter my office for 48 hours owing to a high risk of explosion. Instead of having to go home and wait, I was able to access the Crash Box and continue working as usual. It was invaluable and meant that despite not being able to access my office, there was no interruption to the service I offer. I would definitely recommend StepChange to other businesses who want to make the most of IT and access new private and public sector customers too.”
