Britain becoming more ambitious

Entrepreneurs in the UK are becoming increasingly ambitious, with over seven million Brits believing they will become millionaires, a report has found. Orange Business Services found that two thirds of this number expect to make their first million in the next 10 years.

However, the report also found that many would go to any lengths to get their hands on money, with 40% of men saying they would go to prison for a crime they didn’t commit or forego all contact with family and loved ones for a year for a million pounds.

Young people were found to be the most ambitious group, with a quarter of 16-24 year-olds saying they expect to become a millionaire within their lifetime, with another quarter adding that they expect to make their money from an existing or future business venture.

Martin Lyne, director of small businesses at Orange Business Services, said: “This research is a positive reflection of the UK’s ambition and drive. “That millionaire status today is associated as much with business success and personal ambition as it is with a winning lottery ticket is a reflection of our changing attitude towards business and entrepreneurship and bodes very well for the UK economy in the not so distant future.“To see such confidence shine through, especially among the younger generation, is particularly encouraging.”
