Hat trick of tenants for Baltic Place
A trio of high profile new tenants have exchanged contracts on a landmark new building in Gateshead within the last week.
Global banking group Santander has signed a 10-year lease to house its corporate banking department on the ninth floor of the West tower of Baltic Place on Gateshead’s Quayside.
Meanwhile, 1NG, NewcastleGateshead’s development company, andNGi, the destination marketing agency for NewcastleGateshead, have officially signed up for 10 years on level nine of the adjoining East tower.
These latest tenants mean that 30% of Baltic Place has now been taken.
As a result, by February 2010 there will be more than 320 people working in the building, located next to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.
Santander will move its staff across the water in December this year.
Robertson development manager Stuart Hopley said: “When we built Baltic Place, we set out to provide a building of the highest possible quality, to attract and meet the needs of local, national and international occupiers.
“We are absolutely delighted that one of the world’s largest banking groups and NewcastleGateshead’s two agencies have decided to make Baltic Place their new home and look forward to welcoming all of the 320 people that will be based here with us soon.”
Head of Santander Corporate Banking, Steve Pateman, said: “We are investing heavily in the region, to help us achieve our ambition of becoming the bank of choice for businesses.
“With additional new appointments likely in the near future, this move allows for further recruitment.”
