Healthy launch set to lift innovators’ spirits
A Sunderland healthcare firm is set to manufacture its first product and launch it to local NHS Authorities.
Lynch Healthcare has devised a new shower chair, suitable for both NHS and social healthcare markets, which provides a new solution to the way in which this type of device can be thoroughly cleaned, helping the move towards more effective infection control in hospitals.
David Lynch, Managing Director at Lynch Healthcare, said: “After identifying a number of issues with the current equipment, we decided that there was a definite market for our ideas, and we set about developing them earlier this year.
“We’ve been delighted with how the company has grown, especially in these uncertain times. What people don’t realise is how much support is out there for people who are starting out. We’ve received excellent assistance from the BIC and DRS.”
It was in the early stages of developing his initial ideas for Lynch Healthcare that David approached business advisers at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) to develop them further. The BIC’s in-house team at Design Right Solutions then came on board with advice for the company.
David said: “DRS helped me to cover every area of development for our products. From investigating which materials to use, sourcing them, through to exploring cleaning and sanitizing methods, the process truly turned my ideas into reality, as it ended with a fully-workable demonstration model, which will help to add to our already impressive sales figures.”
The company is now based at premises in Sunderland, and employs three members of staff, whilst the directors look to recruit another full time sales person to broaden their coverage across the region.
