Cundall win Corporate Responsibility and Environment Award

Consulting engineers Cundall are celebrating winning the Corporate Social Responsibility and Environment Award at the nebusiness award finals. Cundall scooped the award at the grand final attended by around 800 executives at Hardwick Hall. This followed their win at the Tyneside and Northumberland heat in April and now sees them go through to the National Chamber of Commerce Awards. The award recognises outstanding achievement in how companies behave towards the environment, the local community, their people and supply chain. Although a North East England business award, the judges took into account all initiatives throughout the practice both in the UK and worldwide. With sustainability at the heart of all their services, Cundall have provided design and analysis on many sustainable building projects, winning numerous awards for projects throughout the world. The practice proactively encourages knowledge sharing, research and innovation within the construction industry. They have provided a number of free seminars to provide information, guidance and case studies about current and future sustainability issues in the built environment. Other initiatives have included being a patron to disaster relief charity RedR, designing an amphitheatre in South Africa to encourage regeneration and painting a community Centre in West Denton, Newcastle. Cundall’s in-house ‘green teams’ continue to work towards reducing the impact the business has on the environment, increasing recycling rates and reducing energy consumption. ’ “Responsibility” is one of our core values at Cundall, and so we are delighted to have our commitment to responsible business practice recognised by the north east business community. The award recognises not only the approach taken by the Practice at an organisational level, but also the time and effort devoted by Cundall staff to community projects both locally and further afield, and our commitment to sharing best practice both internally and externally.’ Carole O’Neil, HR Director. Further details of Cundall’s CSR and Environmental initiatives are detailed in their recently published Sustainability Report that is available on their website www.cundall.com.
