Work Placement student secures Training Contract

When 24 year old Helen Milburn applied for a work placement with Jacksons Law Firm, she never dreamt it would end in her being offered a training contract with the Tees Valley firm of solicitors. In January 2010 Helen contacted Jacksons to enquire if it would be possible for her to obtain works experience to continue her studies in Law. She graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2006 with BA (Hons) 2.1 in English then went on to The College of Law in York where she studied for a Graduate Diploma in Law in which she achieved a Commendation. She completed her Legal Practice Course with Distinction.Helen was offered a part time placement of six days split over three weeks. The rest of the time, she worked part time at Hambleton Citizens Advice Bureau, Northallerton as a Trainee Adviser and at the University of Durham, Stockton as an Extended Hours Library Assistant dealing with student enquiries.

Whilst at Jacksons Helen used the placement as a working interview and impressed the partners so much that they offered her a training contract to begin in May 2010 starting in the commercial litigation department.

Helen went to school at Teesside High, Eaglescliffe and lives in Hutton Rudby. In her spare time Helen enjoys yoga and is a Samaritans volunteer.

Jacksons currently has three trainee solicitors working between their two offices in Stockton and Newcastle both offices specialising in commercial & private law.
