Durham coast tourism project makes a splash
BUSINESS on Durham’s Heritage Coast are seizing the opportunity to increase their tourism industry skills through the Know Your Durham Coast initiative.
A wide range of local businesses, public sector representatives and community organisations are benefitting from the free services provided through Know Your Durham Coast.
These include business and customer service skills workshops and networking events to increase cross selling, piggy back marketing and other mutually beneficial business practices.
One of the leading visitor attractions in the area, five star Seaham Hall Hotel and Serenity Spa, is firmly behind the Know Your Durham Coast initiative.
The luxury hotel is thriving and was recently granted planning permission to add a between 10 and 14 additional bedrooms.
Sarah Barber, business development manager, said: “We have a multi-million pound extension in the pipeline and we’re all very excited about the positive impact that will have on the hotel and this area.
“Ensuring our staff are as five star as our facilities is always a priority for us. At a time when training budgets are tight, we welcome the opportunities that Know Your Durham Coast offers.
“It’s a win win scenario for us. Our staff are given the opportunity to stretch themselves and even the staff from Seaham are finding they are building on their knowledge of the Durham coast.”
