New partnership set to boost Employability Skills
Students across the country are set to receive a boost from an innovative new collaboration, which aims to equip them with skills to move successfully into the workplace.
Employment and skills provider Reed in Partnership has teamed up with awarding body NCFE in response to government calls to reduce unemployment in young people.
Currently, the unemployment rate among 16 to 24-year-olds is 19.4%, and nationally 1.49 million people are currently claiming Jobseekers Allowance.
The Partnership hopes to end the vicious circle of benefit claims by providing youngsters with a clear path into work. They have developed a model that provides learners with the Reed NCFE Levels 1,2 and 3 in Job Search and Interview Skills, which can be reinforced by a tailored programme of student and employer engagement.
Tom Millar, Director of Skills and Business Support, Reed in Partnership said: “We believe the collaboration between NCFE and ourselves will equip students to succeed when taking the step from learning to work.
“It is essential learners have the right skills and mindset to appeal to potential employers as well as realistic expectations for their first job.”
In a survey conducted by Reed, 97% of employers put mindset ahead of skill when recruiting employees, while demonstrating a positive mindset on your CV tripled your chances of getting and keeping a job.
Alasdair Downes, Director of business Development at NCFE, added: “We both recognise the importance of giving learners the very best chance with entering the labour market and given the challenging times we live in, providing cost-effective solutions in this area is vitally important.”
