Central Employment Agency discuss the changes to the right of the temp

The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) and implementation of the Agency Workers Directive is the most significant legislation ever to hit the UK’s private recruitment industry – it will change the recruitment landscape forever, the new regulations will take effect from 1st October 2011.

The recruitment industry is the front line for the UK’s flexible labour market, there are more than 1 million temporary workers registered and working in many industries across the UK.

Despite concerns over the potential impact of the AWR, workplace flexibility must home in on the benefits that temporary workers provide to businesses. A flexible workforce is crucial to help businesses meet peaks in demand and the recruitment industry remains a vital component of our fully flexible labour market in the UK.

Recruitment professionals need to provide businesses across the region with a clear understanding of where they stand when taking on temporary staff to ensure that the temporary workforce continues to contribute to the economy.

Managing director Jo Caprelian says: “Our consultants are committed to delivering a quality service; all have an industry background and have experience of dealing with key companies in most sectors. Our consultants are committed to providing a high level of service and pride themselves on building lasting, meaningful relationships with clients.

“Communication is one of the most important things we do, we’re so good at it that explaining the changes that need to be implemented to our clients in line with Agency Worker Regulations will be second nature.”

There isn’t a one-size-fits all solution, so despite all the negativity surrounding AWR the regulations can actually have a positive impact by enabling agencies to build and enhance their reputations and relationships. In respect of the new regulations Central Employment have positioned themselves as informed experts enabling them to reassure their clients, and work with them to create a bespoke solution to their temporary labour needs, whilst taking in to account the regulations.

The Agency Worker Regulations will not hamper business as far as the flexible labour market is concerned but will ensure better rights for temporary workers. Central Employment are taking the introduction of the Agency Worker Regulations as an opportunity to get closer to their clients and working with them to guide them through the new regulations.
