Warm glow from Local Heroes Awards

Anyone planning to stage an outdoor event in December has to think carefully about the weather!

So a huge marquee also needs a bit of thinking about. The extreme snow conditions last year meant the postponement of the Northern Echo Local Heroes Awards and the gale force winds looked like being the weather’s attempt to spoil things this year.

R&B Group staff worked all week to install everything needed to stage this prestigious awards event for the local community - no easy task in the wind and the cold. This included temporary generators, all the sound and lighting equipment, impressive stage-set and super wide-screen projection system including the content to go on it.

It is a feature of R&B Group that we rise to any challenge thrown at us. This year, even the overnight theft of copper cables (a seemingly increasing problem in the North-East these days) couldn’t prevent us from staging a memorable show.

The 500 guests were treated to a great meal before sitting back to enjoy the announcement of the winners. Always an inspiring evening, awards were presented for sporting excellence from grass roots and unsung heros up to senior team of the year.

There are lots of reasons why staging an event in a marquee in December may not seem particularly attractive. However, until the region gets a more flexible, cost effective venue, you can achieve top quality events in temporary venues by engaging an experienced professional production company to work with you to create the wow factor.
