More Start-ups needed, say FSB

The Federation of Small Businesses has launched a new campaign to encourage more individuals to start their own companies to boost economic growth.

The Real Life Entrepreneurs campaign is set to highlight the important role individuals who take risks to set up their own businesses play in creating positive opportunities for the Noth East and the UK.

The campaign has already received the support of Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery, who has already signed up to be a Real life Entrepreneur Champion.

He commented: “Small businesses play an important role in our communities and make a significant contribution to the local economy.

“I am pleased to add my support to the FSB campaign and hope this will assist small businesses in Wansbeck and encourage and enable more real life entrepreneurs.”

The campaign will also call on the Government to help Real Life Entrepreneurs in the region by increasing routes to finance, simplifying the tax system, tackling late payment and incentivising job creation.

Ted Salmon, FSB North East Regional Chairman, said: “We are delighted that Ian Lavery MP has signed up as a Real Life Entrepreneur champion in Westminster.

“By pushing the Government to tackle issues such as late payment and access to finance
will ensure that real life entrepreneurs are able to grow and prosper.”
