Ready, Steady, Grow… Cash is King!

North East businesses are still reaping the rewards of applying for funding to help them grow their enterprises. By attending a recent event several business owners not only benefitted from an excellent networking opportunity but were also able to apply for up to £1,000 of funding on the spot.

Organised by Caroline Theobald on behalf of Generate Ventures (a registered NBSL provider for North East provision of Leadership and Management development) the “Ready Steady Grow…. Cash is King !! “ event held at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (NE-BIC) on 19 January 2012 attracted around 20 local businesses, interested in hearing Paul Lilley of Generate Ventures talk about “Growing your business with a focus on finance.”

Joy Gair from NBSL was also on hand to explain that funding is available to enable businesses employing 2 to 249 employees to engage outside consultants to support them in developing strategies for growth. Recent recipients of the grant have increased their monthly turnover by seven times and others have moved into new markets, gained new contracts and have increased staff numbers.

Four of the business owners attending completed the NBSL application form at the event, illustrating the simplicity of the process. The guest speaker Martyn Young, founder of First2Print had applied the previous week for the grant support and he shared with delegates the ease of the application process.
