Olympic swimmer: “Get match fit” for Olympic opportunities
Chris Cook, Olympic swimmer will be chairing the latest Team Tomorrow event which will see local businesses who have gained Olympic related contracts sharing their story as an inspiration for others to follow their example at “Home and Away” on 15th March 2012 at The Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough.
Team Tomorrow Events are designed to provide regional businesses with information about Olympic and Paralympic Business and Legacy Opportunities. NewcastleGateshead Initiative in partnership with One North East are working with Cynergy, an events company based on the outskirts of the Tees Valley, to deliver these events.
Chris Cook will chair the event, Chris has represented Great Britain on over 30 representations over nearly 10 years of competing, and in 2009 Chris hung up his trunks and now gives motivational presentations to make people and businesses the best they can be. Chris says, “I am pleased to be supporting this event as I feel it is important for businesses to be aware and make the most of the opportunities presented to them by the Olympics coming to London…..being involved in previous Olympic Games, I have witnessed firsthand what it can bring to the host country in terms of business prospects and these games will be no different”
The event is split into two sessions and delegates can choose to attend the morning / afternoon only or take advantage of the full day. The morning session “They Think It’s All Over…” challenges the misconception that London 2012 contracts are already taken, and explores what winning an Olympic or associated legacy contract could mean for your business together with hints and tips on how to put a successful bid together. The afternoon session “Running with It” looks at international trading opportunities with future sporting events and how businesses can transfer the learning from preparing for London 2012 opportunities.
Mike Hawkins - North East 2012 Regional Business Lead says,
“This interactive event brings businesses together to understand what is still available, what needs to be done, particularly as the Games have so far raised the bar for both procurers and suppliers and give tips on how to get over that bar. We’ll also look at the legacy opportunities that will follow the Games, such as the removal of temporary facilities on the Olympic Park, the creation of the Queen Elizabeth II Park and the decade of sporting events that are going to bring many opportunities in their own right, as well as the international opportunities in Russia and Brazil to name just a few.”
“I’m determined to see this event make an impact and provide a legacy in itself, to help companies to go on and win future business contracts - that is why we need North East businesses to attend. The opportunities are real and available to all. Companies in all sectors and of any size can feed into the supply chain somewhere and win new business - but you’ve got to be in it, to win it.”
Tickets for the event are free, full details and how to book can be found at www.tthomeandaway.eventbrite.co.uk
